Greyhound Training & Racing

How we raise and train our winning team!

Greyhounds are born to run and love racing. They’ve been described as “the Ferraris of the dog world” and can reach up to 40-45 mph. Greyhounds are racing athletes of tremendous grace, speed and power, so when you get six of them sprinting around a track together you get a fast, thrilling, and exciting spectacle!

Greyhounds are naturally aerodynamic, and their narrow frame coupled with their powerful back legs makes them perfect for sprinting. They are also inherently obedient animals and generally creatures of habit, so persisting with the same surroundings and undertaking similar daily rituals will increase discipline.

Our training process begins at an early age, beginning with on-lead training at around seven months old, and they are also taught verbal commands and to socialise with other dogs. They are then introduced into semi-competitive events at around 12 months old. This will undoubtedly help with discipline and allow them to become acclimatised to exercising alongside fellow greyhounds. By around 14 months the majority are considered experienced enough to visit one of the many racetracks at least once a week.
